A short history of sport ......
Yukigassen was invented by Japanese in 1987 at Showa-Shinzan in Hokkaido. To summarize quickly, let's say it's a snowball competition. It can be played all winter, but also in summer, with balls adapted to the hot season.

General rules and standards
Want to try the experience of a real match? You can form a team. Here's the procedure to follow:
- Mandatory: Seven (7) registered players per team;
- Formulas: 2 3 (one match = three periods of 3 minutes);
- Registration cost : free during the Festi-Neige;
- Schedule: 10h30 at noon - Manufacture of balls, practice (with plastic practice balls) and installation of the field. 13h - Beginning of the initiation to Yukigassen and presentation of the matches;
- Ready-to-camp tents available (reservation 418-782-5102).

This spectacular sport has attracted international attention and in the last 10 years, many national associations have formed in Norway, Finland, Australia, Sweden, Holland, Canada and the United States.
It is the City of Thetford Mines that became the first city in Quebec to offer this sport. The Geopark of Percé embarked on the 2016-2017 adventure.
More than 1 000 teams from around the world are competing to win one of the 125 places to compete in the annual National Championship taking place in Japan. Who knows if one day we will not see a Gaspesian team.
